I guess the Nobel Peace Prize just doesn’t mean what it used to. The US Military bombed a hospital in Afghanistan that was being run by Doctors Without Borders.

I think Bill O’Reilly makes a great point for how liberals self contradict themselves in saying they are for human rights. I have been told that I can not be pro-life as I am for the death penalty. I don’t think that is the same argument, and I sure some would try to argue the †use of “torture” against terrorist is not the same argument as murdering unborn children.

Of course, I don’t see how you can call water boarding someone torture. Is it uncomfortable and scary? Yeah, it is, but it does not do anything to maim or permanently damage or scar someone for life. It’s just harsh treatment. The reason water boarding worked so well is because the terrorists thought they were going to die, but they weren’t. Hoping it would save their life, they spilled the beans. Now that that secret is out of the bag, we will have to resort to other measures that will be less effective.

O’Reilly makes a good argument. What is more important and a larger human rights violation:

  1. Making life unpleasant for a short while for three enemy combatants against the US
  2. Killing thousands of unborn babies for profit

Which topic gets more coverage from NBC, MSNBC, ABC, CBS, CNN, the New York Times, and any other large media outlet? Food for thought.

From the AP News

Daschle recently filed amended tax returns to report $128,203 in back taxes and $11,964 in interest. The amended returns reflect additional income for consulting work, the use of a car service and reduced deductions for charitable contributions.

Daschle, chosen by President Obama to lead the administration’s health initiatives, is the second Cabinet nominee to scramble to pay back taxes. Timothy Geithner’s confirmation as treasury secretary was delayed after it was revealed that he had failed to pay more than $34,000 in taxes.
Obama’s first choice for commerce secretary, New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson, took his name out of consideration when his confirmation appeared headed toward complications because of a grand jury investigation over how state contracts were issued to political donors.

“President Obama wanted to have a very ethical administration starting out and so on, but I think he’s seeing how hard it is to avoid these kind of problems,” Kyl said. “And I just wonder, if President Bush had nominated these people, what folks would be saying about that.”

If you have read the previous post I made about Guantanamo Bay, you’ll know how I feel about it being closed. I’m still against it, even though the Executive orders have been signed. Bill O’Reilly’s talking points tonight tell more about why I think it’s a bad idea. See below:

What is Habeas Corpus?
