As the time got closer, me and the groomsmen, Chris, Ramsey, and David (Wendy’s brother), all gathered at the ceremony site. Friends and family began to arrive and I was enjoying getting to see them. Unfortunately, I didn’t have the ability to visit nearly as much as I wanted to throughout the day. My only regret about the wedding day is that there wasn’t enough time to visit with people. We both had lots of friends from different parts of our lives. I had friends from Philmont, Pridemark, Aurora Fire, and my entire AmeriCorps NCCC team even showed up. It was great to get to see so many people. Wendy had lots of her friends from college, her residency, church, and Philmont there. She had more family members there as both of her parents came from larger families than my parents did.
I was actually beginning to get nervous. I told some of my fire/EMS friends that I didn’t get this nervous driving to a call. I was mainly nervous about everything going smoothly. I wanted everyone who came to enjoy their time, but, everything went off without a hitch, so my worrying was for nothing.
The music was already playing for the arrival of guests. I had picked some songs that I wanted, but Wendy didn’t think they were appropriate. Bach- Toccata and Fugue, Theme from The Batman, Theme from Star Wars, apparently these were all too dark 🙂
The wedding processional started and the weather was beautiful. It was hard to believe that last week it was cold and snowy. Now it was warm 70’s and sunny. Couldn’t have asked for better weather for an outdoor wedding. When Wendy walked down the isle, she was more beautiful that I had ever seen her before. It was great!
