The BIG Change

In the morning, we packed up and began our trip back. We still had one full day left to kill before we had to be back in Denver on Friday. The drive out was also pretty. They were grading the roads, so we had a slow drive out behind a road grader. That’s OK, because there was nice scenery to look at. You can see a number of dead trees on the mountains where there was a forest fire a while back. I remember seeing this when Wendy and I drove up here previously.

That day we made our way back to Buena Vista, CO. We took the scenic route of 275 miles. We went through Durango and Silverton to Montrose and then cut over through Gunnison. The section between Durango and Silveton is my favorite piece of road to drive. We stopped in Durango for lunch. There was a BBQ place called Serious Texas BBQ. They had this chipotle cherry BBQ sauce that we tried. It was ok, not a fan of cherries though. But the sweet tea was excellent! We continued on our drive taking pictures along the way. It was a beautiful drive.
