Ramsey was the emcee and announced us at the reception as we entered.
It was great seeing the room filled with family and friends. The decorations and flowers that Wendy had chosen looked great. It was a fall theme. We had a mix of music we had chosen, mostly country, that was playing over the PA. The food for the reception was BBQ. We ate quickly, and began walking around to the tables visiting with folks.
Unfortunately, there wasn’t enough time to get to see everyone. But we did enjoy the time we got to spend with those we got to see. There was a good group of Philmont Pholk there at the wedding. Seeing as how Wendy and I had both met at Philmont and had 11 summers there on staff, it stood to reason that Philmont people would be important to our groups of friends. There was even a rendition of the Ranger song led by our old supervisor Anne Marie Pinkenburg.
My brother, Chris, gave a toast
May I have your attention please? Thankyou. My name is Chris, and today it is my honor to say a few words for my brother Jason, and my new sister Wendy.“We love because it is the only true adventure” -Nikki GiovanniI know that they are eager to embark on what is a great adventure, marraige, and it is an adventure with wonders awaiting you far beyond your imagination. So as you start out on your new adventure let me simply repeat a blessing that is far better crafted than I ever could:Numbers 6:24-2624 The LORD bless you and keep you;25 the LORD make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you;26 the LORD lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace.
Wendy gave her bouquet to her Grandmom June. The garter belt was not welcomed by any of the single guys in the room. Luke Bennett regrettably took it, but it was pretty funny to watch them kick it around where it landed at their feet.
We had two cakes. One was the traditional wedding cake that Wendy came up with the design for, and the other was my grooms cake, which had images of things that I enjoy.
I was searching on the Internet one day looking for ideas for grooms cakes for firefighters when I came across this cake topper. We both wanted it. It’s pretty unbelievable that there was already a cake topper that was a doctor and a firefighter, but there was.
My cake had images of The Cubs, Fire and EMS, and a Philmont Ranger Patch. It was a red velvet cake inside.
Here we are cutting the wedding cake
