All over the islands, there were chickens roaming around. We never got a straight story as to how it happened, but we took a picture just so we could remember the oddity.
We flew out later in the day on Thursday October 8th. While we enjoyed Hawaii, we were glad to be going back home. I was glad to be leaving the humidity. The weather forecast called for 30 degree weather in Denver when we got there, so we were dressed in long sleeves. It was very warm in Hawaii, and I was sweating like a terrorist carrying bombs under my warm clothes. Most of the airport at Kauai was outside. Thankfully the area by the gates was air conditioned.
We left Kauai around 5PM on Thursday. We took a plane to Honolulu, then a long flight to Portland. We got to Portland early local time. There was some guy there trying to get people to sign up for this Delta Credit Card that you got free mile for. I really wanted him to go away, but he didn’t. The jet lag made us really tired as we waited for the next flight. From there it was to Salt Lake City, and then to Denver. We got to Denver on Friday, mid afternoon. It was a long flight. We really enjoyed our trip. Now that we’ve been to Hawaii, we don’t really have a burning desire to go back again. There’s lots of other places we want to check out before we want to return.
There are A LOT more pictures than what I put in this post. Feel free to look around at them.
As far as me moving goes, we finished up our packing the next day. We got some of my firefighter friends to come over and help me move our stuff into the moving truck. Bill was there to help coordinate the packing of the truck. He did a really good job for a liberal arts major 🙂
We left Denver by noon on Sunday October 11th. We got to Wendy’s house about 10 PM that night. My truck was loaded. There wasn’t room for anything else after packing it and my car. I had to put my bikes on my roof rack of my car. Unfortunately, I lost one of my bike wheels on the drive through the mountains. I happened to see it in the rear view mirror bouncing down the highway. Thankfully, no one hit it, but it was a complete loss.
Once we were in Salt Lake, we had to wait for the bank and the title company to finish their paperwork before we could sign on the house. Although, they had several weeks of lead time to know what date we wanted to move in (Bank of America). We waited for more than we had planned, but we were glad to finally sign and start moving in.
We love the new house and look forward to our future together.
